I came to St. John's as a 5th grader. 5 grade was amazing. I had the best teacher (Mrs. B). Then I went to middle school. I did not like it, not at all. The teachers don't know how to deal with punishment, and they are very immature and act like students themselves. They gossip about the students and you can actually hear them at the "teacher's table". Some of the teachers didn't even know how to teach. It's bad when more than HALF of the class gets an F on a final. Mostly because we had no idea what we were doing. I would find myself imagining the 8th grade graduation, ALL THREE YEARS. Do not go here if you want your free will taken away.

  • We have witnessed our child grow and flourish at SJELC. As new parents, we were uncertain what to expect, but their caring, dedicated, knowledgeable staff has assisted every step of the way. We couldn't be more pleased with our daughter's education and growth. St. John's is an exceptional resource for the community.

  • I am a St.John's parent, and also a former St. John's student. All six of my siblings also went through the Lutheran school system - in various cities and states - through elementary and high school. My sons had a great start to their education at Bethlehem Lutheran in Lakewood, and due to life circumstances entered the Jefferson County School District in 2nd & 5th grade, where I watched them flounder and fail to thrive from there on through high school. I knew I needed to do something different for my daughter, and thought back on my childhood to try to understand what had enabled all of us to be so academically successful. The common thread was our Christ centered education in the Lutheran schools. I transferred my daughter to St. John's mid-year of 4th grade, and it is one of the best parenting decisions I have made. She is thriving academically and personally. Are the academic expectations high? - yes. Are the student held to a higher level of accountability? - yes. Are they also provided a second-to-none education in a loving and caring environment? - yes. Thanks and blessings to all of the past and present teachers and administrators in the Lutheran school systems.

I recently graduated from St. Johns. I had a amazing time in elementary school, and I thought the middle school would be just as good. I was so so wrong. The middle school staff is too over bearing, mean, cruel, controlling, and judgmental. The thing that made it an unbearable experience is the absolute lack of respect toward kids. They treated us like impudent toddlers instead of young adults. The expect us to respect them but cannot reciprocate. All they care about it is their "perfect students". Boys are treated worse than girls. DON'T SEND YOUR KID HERE FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL!
